What to say about me...
I'm just a 25 year old guy from South England. Nothing too special to report.
I had a sterling childhood and great and straightforward life until I left the UK in February 2011 to travel for 7 months before starting University. Before leaving my life seemed all too nice and straightforward; after this galavant I would return to study Mechanical Engineering at Southampton and had a scholarship to become an officer in the army after that. But I was far too busy living in the present to worry about all that future stuff…
But... The almighty but!
Starting my studies at Southampton with a newly acquired traveller's afro and hippy ideals (it took me about 2 months to start wearing socks again!), I found it hard to blend into the sea of shaven heads and short back and sides of my fellow army cadets; on top of that my course was far from resonating with me. This set in motion a deep underbubbling of uncertainty about my future.
Equipped with the energy and confusion of a 20 year old, coupled with the ardent pursuit of efficiency shared by so many of my fellow first year engineers, I set about demanding of myself that I know exactly what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, to best allocate my resources and towards whatever it was. Meanwhile everyone around me; friends from home and at university, just seemed to be getting on with it- was I making a fuss over nothing?! Alas this naive and unanswerable question prompted the start of my long, meandering and somewhat unconventional route through the higher education system. Now after 5 years, having changed universities 4 times all told in this goal's pursuit, I'm happy to report that I have FINALLY FINISHED my degree of Arts & Sciences at UCL- the degree for people who don't know specifically what they want to do, but like and are interested in everything- figures!
Now, like The Shining's Johnny opting for the most eccentric route through a door, I too am slowly breaking into the ever broad industry of media in my own way; finding that it's where I'd like to lay my hat, at least for the moment...
This is where this website comes in!
As good old Steve Jobs said;
Now that's real talk Steve. These sentiments may well have put me through the mangle a bit in my early 20's, but I'm glad they did, as now I know I'm never going to settle for things I'm not happy with.
I've created this website to celebrate my leap into the unknown freelance realm; to hopefully attract jobs that warm my cockles and slowly create a body of work that I'm proud of.
If I had to name my main interests, I'd say I'm passionate about the environment (the day after tomorrow will happen-change your ways!); I love travel, adventure, the outdoors, extreme sports, music and photography. The newest addition to this extensive club being filmmaking.
